Editor's Comment
Dear Subscribers and readers
We have a bumper issue this month with six refereed papers along with a
contribution for Essays and Opinions and our book reviews. And we have a
new icon on the home page: "Research Networks".
This issue marks the departure of our very professional and supportive
Editor of the Research & Applications section of LIBRES: Scott Seaman.
Scott has been a tower of strength to me and the journal in the many
years he has been associated with it; in fact since its inception. He
has moved onto a new position in libraries and has taken this time in
his career to resign from the position. 0n your behalf, I thank him for
his tireless efforts and wish him well in the future. I am currently
assessing some expressions of interest for the position and hope to have
that resolved in time for the September 2008 issue.
Dr. Mari Davis, one of our Associate Editor's, is to retire soon and has
retired from the journal and I thank her for her assistance.
I would also like to offer congratulations to one of our long time
Associate Editors, Dr. Don Kraft, who was the recipient of the 2007
ASIS&T Award of Merit for his pivotal role in the field of information
science and as editor of JASIST for "the past 22 years" What an
achievement!
Dr. Kerry Smith
Editor-in-Chief
