[journal of] Information and
Communications Technology Law Submissions for a Special Issue: Government-held
Information, Privacy and Civic Access
Governments are most
frequently the largest collectors of data within their jurisdictions, and often
that data collection and storage is financially supported with public taxes.
How governments manage and make available that information when requests are
made by non-government parties varies in each country. As the data-sharing
world finds new and multi-platform ways to network, the variations of legal
access to government-held information create both opportunities and
difficulties. This special issue will collect the state of access to
government-held information with special attention to concerns for civilian
privacy and civic activists’ oversight of government operations. Submissions
should conform to normal journal specifications noted http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/cictauth.asp
Please send submission no
later than August 1, 2008

The index page for the journal as a whole is not yet online, but will be by

An extract from the
Editorial:
This is a bumper issue of Information
Research as it includes a supplement containing the proceedings of the 6th
Conference on Conceptions of Library and Information Science (CoLIS 6) as well
as the usual clutch of papers and reviews.
I shan't say much about the CoLIS
Proceedings, since they have their own introduction, except to thank the
Editors, and particularly Nils Pharo, who have spent a great deal of time in
getting the papers into publishable form. Without their efforts it would have
been completely impossible to publish the proceedings so quickly after the conference.
It has not been possible, however, to put
the papers through the usual copy-editing and revision process used by the
journal, so readers may find the occasional typographic error or other blemish.
It is for this reason that the papers are published as a supplement, with their
own numbering series, rather than as papers in the main part of the journal.

International Cataloguing and Bibliographic Control
(ICBC)
Sjoerd Koopman
[Sjoerd.Koopman@IFLA.nl] IFLA-L Fri 22/02/2008
International Cataloguing
and Bibliographic Control (ICBC), created in the 1970s, is a quarterly journal
published by IFLA, which has grown over the years from a newsletter to one of
the very few international journals in the broad field of bibliographic
control.
ICBC is devoted to issues,
projects, research and new developments in bibliography, cataloguing,
classification and indexing, information technology, as well as in formats and
standards. It provides an international forum for the exchange of views and
best practices by library and information professionals in the field.
ICBC publishes IFLA
Conference papers from various divisions and sections, proceedings of
workshops, commissioned articles, as well as unsolicited contributions. It
publicises results of research and surveys done by IFLA working groups and
other parties relevantly engaged (e.g., participants in European projects).
The editor, Marie-France
Plassard ( marie-franceplassard@tele2.fr ) welcomes news items about relevant
developments and conferences and workshops.
